 Job Description 
   
 
We are currently looking to recruit a Manager Occupational Health and Hygiene as part of the Central SHEQ team for the UK RBU.

The purpose of this role is to:
„X To develop, implement and evaluate the Linde Group Occupational Health and Hygiene policy, strategy, standards and processes for the UK and Ireland RBU
„X To develop and lead a health and hygiene risk management programme for the UK and Ireland RBU
„X To provide strategic and functional leadership to enable the business managers to reduce costs of ill health and claims, and manage health and hygiene risks in the UK and Ireland RBU
„X To provide the UK and Ireland RBU with professional and expert advice:
o on employee health and well being
o on health and hygiene hazards and associated risks at work
o on control and monitoring of health and hygiene hazards at work
„X To lead and continuously improve the work provided by the OH team in the UK and Ireland RBU so that it adds value to the BOC businesses through the provision of a quality OH service
„X To provide the occupational health and hygiene road map (strategy, policy and standards) in the UK and Ireland RBU to move continually towards World Class performance with a High Performing Organisation
„X To raise the profile of the ¡§H¡¨ in SHEQ with managers and employees
„X To implement the Linde Group OH and H strategy to achieve best practice across the UK and Ireland RBU and ensure legislative compliance
„X To provide functional leadership to the Regional OH advisors, Health and Wellbeing advisors and support to the BOC contract doctors
„X To help managers and employers realise the benefit of optimal health and well being thus contributing to employee motivation and productivity

Key responsbilities will include:
„X To collaborate with Operations to drive improvement in health & safety performance
„X To enable business managers to comply with health and hygiene related legislative requirements and BOC/Linde health and hygiene standards including:
o Hazard identification, risk assessment and control, monitoring and health surveillance, statutory reporting, first aid
„X To provide relevant systems and process to help control losses from ill health
o Work ¡V related health screening for fitness to work, before and during employment
o Sickness absence, rehabilitation, medical severance and ill health retirement
o advice on workplace adjustments to enable individuals to work safely and without risk to health
o Travel health, new and expectant mothers, specific workplace assessments where required for vulnerable individuals
„X To work with and provide functional leadership and expertise to the OH team and site appointed doctors
o Ensure that we have clear standards and our people are competent
„X To give the business a competitive advantage by promoting the value of good health and well being to all employees including managing the Executive Health and Well Person Screening Programmes
„X To provide confidential and robust record keeping systems that protect the individual and the business
„X To collect, evaluate and share appropriate metrics to enable continuous improvement targets to be met in relation to managing employee health and well being.
„X To contribute to SHEQ planning processes and work with local SHEQ managers as required.
„X To identify areas where OH intervention or rapid access to investigation and or treatments could benefit both the employees and the business
„X To support and drive the development of health education programmes for managers and employees on both work related and relevant public health issues
„X To keep abreast of relevant law and industry best practice by forging links with professional organisations and professional institutes.
„X To support the cultural change in SHEQ behaviour and across the business
„X Budget management
„X To influence prospective/forthcoming relevant legislation and prepare systems to help the business ensure compliance where necessary.
„X To contract, manage and direct an occupational hygiene contract service for the UK and Ireland

Key skills necessary for this role:
„X Knowledge of operational processes and business
„X Communication and influencing skills
„X People management
„X Change management
„X Knowledge of occupational health technical skills and hygiene methods and applications

Key qualifications and experience necessary for this role includes;
„X Mandatory
o Proven management skills in successfully leading an OH team/function
o Professional qualification in occupational health or occupational hygiene
o Knowledge of relevant legislation
o Knowledge of ergonomics
„X Desirable
o Registered health or medical practitioner
o Experience of at least five years in manufacturing/ industrial environment
o NEBOSH Diploma and/or management qualifications
