A new role, based at Guildford, has been created for a Development Engineer within Support & Development in MPG Operations. The role offers an opportunity to work as part of a highly professional team of development engineers and designers, and is pivotal to the development of innovative new cylinder packages, cylinder filling systems, and related equipment to support the growth strategy of the business.Your challenge will be to provide research, innovative design and development engineering, and technical support to Merchant Packaged Gases (MPG) Business Management and Operations.
Specifically you will develop cylinder packages, cylinder filling & handling systems, and other technical development according to business needs; acting either as project manager or providing technical support to other senior development engineers. This includes conduct of feasibility studies, project definition, innovative engineering design and development, and conduct of testing and customer trials. You may also undertake development engineering in support of capital engineering projects.
The role is wide and varied and other aspects will include providing technical support to business and operations, undertaking technical investigations, as well as other related duties incidental to the nature of the work. In all aspects you will ensure technical activity is compliant with all company and external regulations, standards and codes and is signed-off by relevant Technical Authorities
You will need a broad technical background, an engineering degree qualification and have attained or be working towards Chartered Engineer. You will have at least three years experience in design and development engineering / product engineering / product design, preferably relating to fluid/gas equipment, and have proven skills in managing multiple projects as well as your own time.
To be successful, you will need strong problem solving and design innovation skills. Also, effective influencing and communications skills, some experience of managing supplier technical relationships, and a focused and flexible approach to managing key priorities and driving successful outcomes.
