Plant Technician, Bulwer Island
Located near the Brisbane Airport, Bulwer Island accommodates the largest investment made by BOC in the South Pacific. It is a state of the art site and includes an Air Separation Unit, a Carbon Dioxide Plant and a Hydrogen Plant. The site supplies one of BOC¡¦s major customers, BP, via dedicated pipelines and also provides liquid products to Merchant customers in Queensland including the PG&P site in Rocklea.
Applications are invited for the position of Plant Technician based at Bulwer Island in Brisbane.
The primary focus of this challenging role is the continuous safe and reliable operation and maintenance of the three plants at Bulwer Island. The plant is manned 24 hours/day, 7 days a week. Support to our other bulk production sites in Queensland will be required from time to time.
Your accountabilities in this role will include:
« Executing the plant maintenance tasks including supervising and issuing work permits
« Working with SPOC to Start-Up and Shutdown plants without supervision
« Communicating with SPOC regarding plant operation, customer and distribution demands
« Managing Maintenance Systems by running forecasts, closing work jobs, planning maintenance, inventory control and keeping maintenance records in CMMS (e.g. Maximo)
« Maintaining optimum plant operation and reliability under various plant production modes
« Developing and Maintaining an excellent working relationship with BP
« Training and supervising the apprentices when required
The successful candidate will:
Ï Demonstrate safe behavioural approach
Ï Be trade qualified (ie. Fitter & Turner, Electrician or Instrument Technician)
Ï Have a good mechanical aptitude with extensive maintenance experience in an operational environment
Ï Be able to work alone and as part of a team
Ï Display sound judgement in pressure situations, and use initiative to solve problems
Ï Approach change positively, generate improvement ideas and be able to implement these ideas
Ï Demonstrate good verbal and written communication
Ï Have the ability to develop valuable relationships with customers
The successful candidate would ideally have plant operation and maintenance experience, while computer literacy would also be an advantage as a number of computer software packages will be used on a daily basis.
